Hello,

How was your summer? Mine went by too fast haha :) I'm an elementary school teacher and I'm currently planning a project on penguins for my students. I'm looking up some resources I can share with them to help with their projects and I came across your webpage, http://www.guywooles.co.uk/penguin_project/links.htm. I wanted to thank you since I found a helpful source through your page. :) In doing research I found another page that also offers sources on penguins. I did notice that a couple of your sources didn't seem to be working when I tried to click on them. So, I figured you could use this page to replace them, http://www.peoplefinders.com/article-all-people-need-to-know-about-penguins.aspx. If you placed this page amongst your other resources it would help even more students beyond my own classroom. I truly hope that you'll be able to use this source on your webpage. Sorry to bother you. I hope you find this helpful! Thanks so much! :)

Sincerely, Andrea Jones

Kids for Birds. I hope you get some hits from it.
Good luck with the project. I shall check your website to see how
things are going.
Cheers for now, Janet

Guy - I love it!

I've got friends all over the world who might want to offer a residency to a penguin.

I'm thinking of America, New Zealand, Southern Ireland, Malaysia, Spain, France and China. I don't want to harress my friends abroad unless you defo want to send them a penguin.

Let me know and I'll spread the word.

Any which way - you're a genius and I love it.

Big love and admiration,

Amy

Dear Guy

Thanks for your email – sounds fun! I’ll discuss the project with the team and Director on his return and see if it fits with naything we have planned for 2011/12.

If we can’t take a penguin, I’ll pass your details on to other penguin contacts

Have you tried to get one of your penguins on the ISCE International Scott Centenary Expeditions for 2011/12?

Dear Guy

Thanks for your email. The Media Relations Manager has now reviewed your request and has asked me to respond.

Paper Penguin looks like a fantastic project for raising interest in penguins, and awareness of marine conservation issues. As it happens, however, Taronga Zoo already runs its own conservation education project for penguins, in partnership with Landcare Australia. ‘Project Penguin’ is delivered by our Education Centre to schools across the Northern Beaches region of Sydney, to encourage local communities to take positive action for the endangered little penguin breeding colonies in their area. You can find further information here: http://www.taronga.org.au/education/conservation-education-programs/project-penguin/project-penguin-at-taronga-zoo
and here:
http://www.landcareonline.com.au/case-studies/nsw/project-penguin/

We do appreciate your interest in Taronga Zoo but I’ve been advised that for the moment we are focused on the development of our existing program, so we will have to decline involvement with Paper Penguin. If you don’t mind, however, I will keep your details on file, and let you know if the situation changes.

Sorry that we couldn’t participate at this point in time, but thanks again for thinking of us and good luck with the continued development of Paper Penguin.

Kind regards

Lorraine

Dear Guy,

We applaud your creativity and your work to spread information about penguins in such an imaginative way! Please feel free to use the penguin section of our website for reference as you are putting together the information you wish to present-- http://www.seaworld.org/animal-info/info-books/penguin/index.htm. We hope you find it helpful. You may also want to check-out the bibliography so you can look up some of the scientific papers referenced as they may point you further into the research on penguins.

We have forwarded your message to our web designers to consider your proposals about linking the websites. They will respond directly to you if they are interested in adding your information to our site.

We also checked with our Education Team to find out if they could accommodate your request to “host” one of your penguins. Unfortunately due to time constraints this is not a possibility and they apologize for any inconvenience this causes but are equally thrilled that you are promoting penguin information with your concept.

While we are not able to accommodate all of your requests at this time, we do hope that this information has been helpful and wish you all the best on your penguin project!

Sincerely,

The Ask Shamu Team
